We're All Going Someplace

We're All Going Someplace

One should not be surprised that a Grand Tour of Japan by Train requires a great deal of time in train stations and among other tourists.
For some reason that 2 weeks later escapes my memory, we had almost three hours of free time in a very congested area waiting to go to another tourist destination. I wandered away looking for a quiet spot to eat.
I found it.
Although the seating booth was not so great, the meal was delicious.

Somehow we arrived at the Tenryu-ji Temple and the famed Bamboo Grove.
I was glad that the guide felt it would be a difficult walk. I am sure it was beautiful but marching uphill single file with thousands of others in 80-degree weather did not sound very pleasant.

I did enjoy a couple of hours strolling through the Arashiyama gardens.

We then found our way through the throngs again to our hotel. I had considered going ahead by taxi but was glad I didn't. The itinerary I printed identified a different hotel!

My group went to view the famous geisha girls of Kyoto but I knew it would be packed with tourists so I stayed in and enjoyed 1 hour of drinks for 1500 yen.

The group arose early the next day to visit the temple of a thousand torii the Fushimi Inari Shrine.
I took a taxi even before they headed to the metro and wandered through the gates almost alone.

I think the group was walking through the gates when I descended. I decided not to wait for them. I think they were going to visit another temple.
Somehow the taxi driver and I were able to figure out how to get me to the Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design.
